DIY Skirt: Janelle Pattern | Fabric: Golden D’Or Fabrics
*Trifling Disclaimer* I made this post MONTHS ago when it was still hot out and never posted it because the tutorial video got corrupted and I never got around to re-filming it. Life!*I wanted to wear the Janelle skirt to the office, but that thigh-high split was not in compliance with anyone’s 9-5 dress code policy.
When I designed this pattern, I had her in mind for girls night out and date night. But, with a quick and easy modification to only one of the four pattern pieces, I made this skirt office friendly, without compromising on style. Win.
The fabric I used is this snakeskin print stretch twill from Golden D’Or Fabrics in Dallas. They have an online store, now. But the selection is massive in store. Just give them a call to order this fabric and let them know I sent you!
This quick modification to the Left Front pattern piece will give you the space to topstitch further down your skirt split to give you a more modest look. The red line is your new extension and the black is your original pattern piece. From the bottom of the Left Front pattern piece, extend by 2 inches. Then, blend your extended line up to your original pattern piece as shown.
All construction steps remain the same.

Yes,I desperately needed this fix for modesty is my brand. Thank you, Ms. Erin.
You’re welcome!!
