I’m so glad to be back blogging. For the past few weeks, I’ve been very sick with the flu. It started a few days before Valentine’s Day and got worse quickly. Suga Baby’s daycare class had been exposed to flu and strep in the same week. (She tested negative for both, thank God.) You know how it goes with daycare and cooties. It’s like The Walking Dead in there. Instead of walkers, there are tiny adorable humans with runny noses who infect others with their sneezing, kisses, and cuddles.
While I was recovering, I did finally catch up on season 11 of Supernatural and discovered The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix, so yay!
Now, that I am back to being a semi-functioning adult, the posting schedule will resume.
This is the outfit I intended to wear for a lovely V-day celebration with Hubs. This tunic is different for me in that I don’t normally do accent designs like puffy sleeves. But, I decided to go for it anyway.
I used Vogue 8977 and made the following alterations:
- Added 3 inches to the length
- Slashed and spread the sleeve, front and back pieces for fullness
- Replaced the sleeve gathers with large pleats
- Shortened the sleeve to a 3/4
- Skipped the sleeve cuff and added elastic to the shortened sleeve
- Skipped the buttons down the center back
The textured linen fabric I chose works amazing for this spring-ish in between weather and on those cool summer nights.
The first time I made this, I didn’t love it. Even this time, I didn’t love it. But, when I styled it, I fell in love with it.
It just goes to show that styling is super important, whether we DIY or not!
I’ll see you on the next post!
