How to Sew A Maxi Dress

Hey there! I’m popping in to bring you a tutorial on how to sew a maxi dress using a tank top that you may already have!

If you’re following me on Instagram, then you may know that I’m currently in Costa Rica on vacation with Hubs.

My gosh, it is beautiful. The greenery is just breathtaking. I wanted to stop in and share some photos we took yesterday and to make it relevant, I’m showing you how to sew maxi dress that I made especially for the trip.

I wanted to sew a maxi dress a couple of weeks ago because I knew I wanted to wear it on vacation. My fabric is a printed ITY knit from a local fabric shop called Golden D’or in Dallas. They have some fabrics available online, but not nearly what’s offered in the store. It’s huge.

My head scarf is a simply black scarf I picked up from Target ages ago. Because I was absolutely not going to be dealing with styling a pixie haircut on my vacation. No and ma’am. I have my scarf and my new wig that I am in LOVE with (also shared on Instagram), so I’m in purely low maintenance mode.

I self drafted this maxi dress from a dressy sequin tank that I already own.  I traced the pattern and modified to create the look that I wanted.

If you’d like a tutorial on how to do this, it’s below!

We took these photos around the resort and along a short hiking trail we last minute decided to do.

Okay, I’m headed back to the beach for more R&R. I’ll “see” you all later!
